The situation
Hellen worked in a Sydney restaurant for almost two years, regularly working up to 70 hours per week. Much of her pay was provided as a flat cash rate, without overtime, penalty rates, or casual loading. Although she suspected she was being underpaid, she was unsure of her rights at the time.
How we helped
After reviewing Hellen's records and employment history, RMWC calculated she had likely been underpaid by approximately $30,000 and sent a formal letter of demand to her former employer.
The result
Following negotiations, RMWC secured substantial financial compensation for Hellen.
